σ-type segment Simone
whitesilk's il Dottore segment OC
/ rogue segment AU

σ-type segment. He represents Zandik at the age of 25–30 and is the very first segment ever created by him — a "prototype."As it often happens with first attempts, mistakes were made. Zandik gave Sigma too much of his own soul. The result was something both unique and far too similar to its creator. Inheriting Zandik's hatred of higher powers, Sigma was driven into an existential crisis.Sigma hates his creator with all of his mechanical heart, and the knowledge that he is Zandik himself poisons his life. These circumstances were the cause of severe psychological instability, eventually driving him to take drastic measures.Sigma has begun rebuilding himself secretly behind Zandik’s back, replacing his original body piece by piece with components made by him. He believes that if he completely reconstructs himself, he will become a truly separate, independent individual — and that Zandik will no longer have any power or control over him.

Lab life and relationships
Sigma lived in Zandik’s lab, where he did all of the "dirty work": repairing equipment, cleaning areas inaccessible to the Fatui agents and taking care of Zandik himself. He also was Zandik's assistant during the creation of his later segments.Sigma was fully aware that Zandik knew about his plan so he felt an urgency to escape asap. Zandik, however, driven by some kind of senior sentimentality and by immense pride in his first successful segment allowed Sigma to live, even though he understood the torment Sigma endured. Later Zandik improved the design of the segments by reducing the portion of his own soul embedded within them. This made their minds significantly more stable and greatly lowered the likelihood of psychological breakdowns. The second segment Zandik created after Sigma was 8. Since 8 was technically a child and prone to mischief Sigma became responsible for looking after him. They developed somewhat of a good relationship; more than anything, Sigma pitied him. Deep down Sigma hoped that 8 could be capable of psychological growth — that he might be led away from developing into another reflection of Zandik's personality. But of course that was never possible.
When Omega was created Sigma recognized his superiority immediately. He did his best not to ruin their relationship (that was hard) and desperately tried to convince Omega that they should escape the lab together. In an ideal scenario Sigma hoped Omega would help him rebuild his body. He often lamented their miserable situation, speaking openly of it and referring to them as prisoners. Omega appeared indifferent yet he never chased Sigma away. Instead he simply listened. On several occasions Sigma was allowed to care for Feofan. During those moments he experienced something very close to happiness and peace, yet the instant he realized that those feelings were Zandik's feelings too, his heart was filled with disgust.Feofan considered Sigma the gentlest one out of all the segments. He was right - Sigma treated him with exceptional care, always handling him with the utmost delicacy.
Escape

Sigma managed to escape, though not without incidents. In one of the corridors Feofan caught him and shot him in the head. The bullet didn't damage anything vital but it tore away part of the face plate, leaving Sigma's insides exposed.Sigma managed to push on Feofan's sympathy and feelings for Zandik and so Feofan let him go.Zandik discovered of the escape almost immediately yet he chose not to deactivate the segment. He wanted to observe what would happen out of scientific curiosity. Besides, he was convinced that Sigma would eventually return; that it was in his nature.

For some period of time Sigma was basically homeless, surviving in hiding, stealing food and seeking shelter in caves and abandoned buildings. He had to shave off his teal blue hair as it was a dead giveaway of his origin. There was a great a risk of people recognizing him as the Second Harbinger. Whenever someone mistook him for Dottore, Sigma felt an overwhelming urge to scream in despair or start a fight.
Woking with Sandrone

Eventually Sigma's situation became dire. Without access to the proper materials, rebuilding his body was nearly impossible. As a result, he lost much of his mobility: one of his legs had almost completely fallen apart, and Sigma was captured by the Fatui; specifically by the Sandrone's squad. For a long time, Sandrone was unsure what to do with him. One option was to destroy or dismantle him in order to study Dottore's technology and potentially turn it against its creator. In the end however, she decided to keep the segment for herself. Her ultimate goal was to bring him under her control - a perfect opportunity to humiliate Dottore as a scientist, to prove her own superiority and take one of his creations away from him.Sigma quickly realized that he could no longer survive without outside help, even if the thought deeply disgusted him and it was a humiliation. His own plan was to deceive Sandrone, use the opportunity to obtain the materials he needed to rebuild his body and, in the best-case scenario, eliminate her afterward.Sigma was rather confident and didn't consider Sandrone a serious threat or an exceptionally talented scientist, but he was sincerely fascinated by her inventions. In a way, he even envied her: Sandrone's creator had granted her free will and released her into the world. It was the very freedom Sigma desired for himself.
The future

There is a big timeskip there; events after this take place after Zandik's death.Sigma's greatest fear - being deactivated by his creator - became his greatest motivation.Against all odds Sigma and Sandrone managed to create a backup soul core through reverse engineering. Sigma contained an excess portion of Zandik's soul (another flaw that unexpectedly proved to be an advantage) and they successfully transferred the soul excess into the backup core. Sigma's role as Zandik's assistant during the creation of the later segments was extremely useful as he possessed a deep understanding of the technology.Still, the problem remained. Sigma's personality continued to be frozen in time and he still felt himself under Zandik's control. It was Omega who solved that problem by elimination of the segments. The version of Sigma tied to the segment network was destroyed along with the others, but the backup core containing the preserved soul fragment remained untouched. Omega had no access to it as it had been created by Sandrone.Sandrone had the ability to establish remote control over the backup core but she chose not to. According to the deal she and Sigma had made, he would share all of the knowledge Zandik possessed with her and in return she would never impose any kind of control over him.Sandrone gave him a new name - Simone.
* Sigma was a good housekeeper (or a labkeeper) but struggled to keep the place clean.* He occasionally attended opera theatre but not for the performances. Instead, while the show was on, he would sneak into the performers' dressing rooms and steal corsets and garters to use for suspending his own body.* Sigma went to the several Harbinger meetings as il Dottore.* Webby was almost never seen in the lab, spending most of his time away. The few times he and Sigma met invariably ended in fights. Even so, Sigma secretly respected him.* Sigma initiated a fistfight with Omega once and won, thanks to his modified hands.* Omega frequently tried to make Sigma wear a mask for reasons Sigma could never understand. To him wearing a mask felt like an insult.* Sigma wanted Omega to join him by all means - he even tried intimacy and sweet talks once.* Sigma and Sandrone hated each other first but warmed up with time. It's a mutual respect now.* Sigma has his own elixir of immortality dose just like all other segments. He saved it somewhere unknown for Pantalone just in case.
